Mi Gente is made by dancers for dancers. We grew from a small WhatsApp group to a community of over 3000 DMV dancers (and more around the country).
We are not affiliated with any event or promoter – we just want to find, promote, and attend the best places to dance.
This is an insider’s guide to the social dance scene in the DMV (DC/MD/VA). Events change every few days and we keep this updated for the week ahead.
About twice a week we put out an updated list of great events, update changes and then privately collect feedback from dancers. We are very protective of our dance community, so please don’t republish this list anywhere.
Our criteria is centered around how good it is to dance Salsa, Bachata, Zouk, Kizomba. We value things that are important to good social dancing like: amount of dance space, type of floor, quality of music, and of course the community and atmosphere of the event.
Our ratings favor social-dance-focused events over parties; the rating scale is as follows from best on down and is based on dancer reviews we privately collect from dancers every week:
